Speak up against human trafficking European campaign

Challenge

More than 17 million women globally are trafficked into the sex industry against their will.All are these victims are trapped in-between two worlds, that of the law and that of the pimp.Making them unable to cry out to anyone. They are illegal in the eyes of the law and prisoners in the eyes of their pimp.

IDEA

The women in the film are depicted as sex workers while lip-syncing to authentic male clients sex-forum reviews of female sex workers. The film offers an unfiltered perspective of how the women in the darker part of the sex industry are viewed and what they have to deal with. The reviews in the film are all true and directly transcribed from real closed online forums on the dark web.

The contrast of emotionless faces being used as a tool to speak, combined with flashes of the what transpired seen through a nightmarish lens, gelled into a haunting whole, where no one element seemed overpowering and never theatrical or fake. This film is an international crossplatform campaign, in the sense that the 12 European NGO's that were behind the campaign could use it to create awareness around the topic of sex trafficking.

IMPACT

Voiceless Women was released on 18th november 2018 on the EU International Anti-trafficking day. Within two weeks of release of the film anonymous tips led to reporting of two houses with female victims of sex trafficking, and the women was helped to safety by Danish NGO Newlives.
